Plan to come to the Twisted Vine in downtown Wake Forest Saturday, September 10 from 7-10 pm for the latest installment of the Neck of the Woods Performance Series. The North Wake Artists’ Collective is bringing in the band Scarlet Virginia an indie folk/rock band from Raleigh, who bring rich harmonies, haunting melodies, and a bit of old fashioned folk to their diverse tunes. Having just released their first official EP By Lamplight a year ago (available on iTunes), they currently play all over the triangle and beyond.
Falling Up Dance Company will be performing with local guitarist, John Patterson. The company’s founder, Claire Constantikes, studied dance and choreography in New York City and at Temple University in Philadelphia, where she earned an MFA. Her movement explorations tend to be quirky, meditative, and gravitate toward raw physicality. John W. Patterson aka SourceCodeX has been a guitarist, singer, and songwriter since 1967. Since 2004 he has started working with synthesizers creating cinematic, ambient music — releasing five CDs since 2004 (www.SourceCodeX.com).
We will also have poetry readings by Tara Lynne Groth and Sierra Golden. Tara Lynne Groth is a freelance writer based out of Raleigh. Her poetry is almost always threaded with the themes of escape, missed connections, secrets and Paris. She’s written two poetry books, This is Paris and Bare Feet on the Dashboard. www.taralynnegroth.com. Sierra Golden is a graduate student at NC State University. Originally from Washington State, she now splits her time between North Carolina, Washington, and Alaska. She has been published in the anthology Cold Flashes: Literary Snapshots of Alaska and Cirque.
