Wake Forest ARTS 100 under $100 Art Sale

Showcasing the area’s rich artistic talent in the heart of historic downtown, Wake Forest ARTS hosts 100 under $100 to kick off the holiday season. In a gallery setting, 100 under $100 features a variety of juried 2-D and 3-D creations, including paintings, pottery and photographs – all for less than $100.

The event takes place Fridays through Sundays from Dec. 2-18 at ARTS 206, 206 S. White St., Wake Forest during the afternoon and evening (check our calendar for times and dates). Samples of the artwork will also be displayed at Twisted Vine Wine Shoppe, 156 S. White St., Wake Forest. The opening of the show will be December 2, 2011, 6:00pm – 9:00pm, coinciding with the Lighting of Wake Forest

A portion of the proceeds from art sales will go to Wake Forest ARTS to fund future programming.  “As with all our programming events, Wake Forest ARTS strives to highlight local artistic talents,” said Wake Forest ARTS board member Lauri Arntsen. “With our Six Sundays in Spring historically highlighting the musical scene, we wanted to focus on the visual arts for the holiday season. The 100 under $100 show and sale will offer artists a unique opportunity to showcase their work and give shoppers the chance to purchase an original piece of artwork for less than $100 dollars.”

“Partnering with downtown businesses was extremely important to us as we continue to build relationships with other organizations and spread the message of the importance of the arts,” said Arntsen. “We also felt it necessary to coincide this special show with other holiday gatherings already on the schedule, such as the Lighting of Wake Forest. It’ll give people more options as they stroll downtown and overall, it just makes sense.”

Hosting 100 under $100 at ARTS 206, the newest gallery in town, also “just makes sense.” The upstairs loft at 206 S. White Street has recently undergone renovations. “Wake Forest ARTS would like to acknowledge the generosity and extraordinary enhancement efforts of John Hearn and Hallie Arrington Hearn [in making] ARTS 206 a wonderful venue for Wake Forest ARTS 100 under $100 exhibit and sale,” said Wake Forest ARTS President Pam Stevens.
