The Neck of the Woods Performance Series brings to you an evening of Wake Forest artists! Come out on Saturday September 8th at 7:00pm and enjoy theatre, song and dance from our town. The show is free to all, but we do suggest a $5 per person donation to support these great artists and their work. As usual, the performance is held upstairs at The Wake Forest Coffee Co. Please come a few minutes early so that you won’t miss any of these talented performers.
The Neck of the Woods Performance Series is a variety art show featuring the work of local performing artists. Rickey E. Dawson Jr. is a native of Fayetteville NC. He is currently working toward a Master in Church Music w/ a concentration in voice at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest NC. He is a member of North Wake church, is a teacher of classical and contemporary voice styles at Music Academy South also in Wake Forest, and works part time as a life skills teacher for children diagnosed with developmental disabilities. He loves the word of God and states that his purpose in life is to “walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God,” (Col. 1:10) all for the glory and fame of the name of Christ.
Sandra Imbriaco is 13 years old and is beginning her ninth year dancing. She enjoys all forms of dance and has previously been a member of the acclaimed North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble. She hopes to make dance a career one day and enjoys the opportunity to assist in the teaching of younger dancers.
Kaitlyn Miller is entering her 13th year of dance. She has performed with the Carolina Ballet and recently was accepted into a summer intensive dance program in New York City. She hopes to become a dance teacher and mentor young dancers.
Samantha Salvato & Brittany Pappas are dancers at Destiny Dance Institute in Wake Forest.
Brittany Pappas is fourteen years old and currently a sophomore at Enloe High School for performing arts. In school she is working towards her International Baccalaureate diploma in dance and the National Dance Honors Society. After school she studies at Destiny Dance Institute in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Pointe, Contemporary, and Modern. Brittany has been dancing since she was 2 years old and has excelled to be a Senior Company member at Destiny Dance Institute.
Samantha Salvato is seventeen years old and currently a senior at Wake Forest-Rolesville High School. After school she attends dance classes at Destiny Dance Institute, where she has trained for eight years. Samantha has grown there as a Senior Company member, the highest level of the pre-professional courses, and also grown in her choreography skills; being the runner-up for the Emerging Choreographers award this past year.
Cora Hemphill has lived in Wake Forest for 16 years. She grew up on the stage at Wake Forest-Rolesville High School where she developed a love for theatre and dance. She pursued this interest further and received her degree in Theatre Performance at Greensboro College. Now a husband and two kids later, Cora is so excited to be sharing her art in her hometown. Some of her experience includes Heidi in “The Heidi Chronicles”, Madge in “Picnic” and Rosemary in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”. She hopes that each performance will communicate something honest and genuine. Tonight, Cora will be performing an abridged version of Horace Holley’s drama “His Luck.”
Finally, we will have Analise Larkin, who is 13 years old and has been training since she was 2. Dancing has truly become Analise’s passion, her way of life. She says, “…dancing has made a huge impact in my life and the hard work and effort pays off!”
