The Hillsborough Arts Council will present Hillsborough Sculpture Tour 2013 on April 26, 2012 through April 25, 2014. This will be the second time outdoor sculpture will be exhibited throughout downtown Historic Hillsborough, North Carolina.
This year we are honored to have Patrick Dougherty as our Judge. Mr. Dougherty’s website is www.stickwork.net. If you’d like to learn more about him, just Google. A New York Times article “At Home With Patrick Dougherty: Building with Sticks and Stones,” describes this Chapel Hill based sculptor.
The judge will select six winning sculptures. Each winner will receive an honorarium of $800. A 25% commission on work sold during the show will be paid to the Hillsborough Arts Council to help defray costs of the tour and to be applied toward future tours or related projects. Winning sculptures will remain on display until the end of the tour. In addition to cash awards, at the closing of the tour The People’s Choice Award will be announced. The People’s Choice award will be made based on votes by spectators who will pick up brochures with ballots and maps at the Visitors Center and other locations.
