The Neck of the Woods Performance Series welcomes you to another wonderful night of local performance art. Join us on Saturday February 9th at 7pm to hear Dianna T. Benson read from her newly published adventure/suspense novel The Hidden Son. Dancer Kate Davis will mix things up with some modern movement. Returning to the Neck of the Woods stage is the always enjoyable singer-songwriter Tom V. The show is free to all, but we do suggest a $5 per person donation to support these great artists and their work. The performance will be held upstairs at the Wake Forest Coffee Company. Please come a few minutes early so that you won’t miss any of these talented performers. Wine and beer are available. If you have enjoyed Wake Forest’s Mardi Gras festivities, the party isn’t over yet. Make Neck of the Woods your last stop. Get some beads at the door and enjoy some local art!
The Neck of the Woods Performance Series is a variety art show featuring the work of local performing artists. Running for over a year, this unique show has included singers, musicians, writers, dancers, actors and comedians. This performance series is put together by volunteers who love art and desire to share it. They have no funding, so spreading the word can be a challenge. Bring a friend to the show to help support them, and keep track of what they’re up to by following them on facebook.

Dianna Torscher Benson is a 2011 Genesis Winner, a 2011 Genesis double Semi-Finalist, a 2010 Daphne Finalist, and a 2007 Golden Palm Finalist. In 2012, she signed a nine-book contract with Ellechor Publishing House. Her first book releases March 2013.
After majoring in communications and a ten-year career as a travel agent, Dianna left the travel industry to earn her EMS degree. An EMT and a Haz-Mat and FEMA Operative since 2005, she loves the adrenaline rush of responding to medical emergencies and helping people in need. Her suspense novels about adventurous characters thrown into tremendous circumstances provide readers with a similar kind of rush.

Kate Davis, an Atlanta, Georgia native, began her early training as a rhythmic gymnast. After graduating high school, she switched her focus to dance, earning a BA in dance, as well as a BA in psychology from Birmingham-Southern College. At BSC, she won awards for both “Merit in Dance” and “Distinguished Choreography”. She continued her studies at Florida State University, where she earned an MA in Dance with a focus in Arts and Community Practice. At FSU, Kate’s choreography was chosen to be performed locally in the school’s Evening of Dance concerts, and nationally at the American College Dance Festival. While dancing at FSU, Kate performed under choreographers such as Gerri Houlihan and Andy Noble. She also worked as Director’s Assistant to Lynda Davis, director of Dance Repertory Theatre, and performed with the company. Since moving to North Carolina, Kate’s main interest has been performing site specific improvisations and dance installations, though she is also pursuing certification in dance/movement therapy. Kate lives in Raleigh with her husband Alex and 2-year-old son, Julian.
Tom V. Originally from the Chicago suburbs, TomV has been here in the Raleigh area since 2006. He made songwriting a focus and has been having a great time ever since. Met some very talented folks, friends, mentors and supporters in the area as well as across the world via YouTube. TomV has his own brand of folksy bluesy story telling with a little harmonica and slide on top.
