Forest Moon Theater opens its 2014-15 season with the regional premiere of Helium on September 19 at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre. Performance dates are September 19, 20, 26, and 27 at 7:30pm, and September 21 at 3pm.
Helium is an emotional comedy about eighty-year-old Molly Kingsley and her family as she struggles with aging. Her mind has begun to wander, no longer bound by space and time. With the help of colorful helium-filled balloons, her flights of fancy take her family and the audience to the seashore of her youth, the high-school chemistry classroom where she once taught, and even an old episode of Star Trek. While her daughter tries to keep her grounded in reality, her two grandsons and her nurse watch as this mischievous and spirited grandmother and friend slips away day by day into the clouds of dementia.
With original theme music composed for our theater by Joe O’Keefe, a gifted musician and owner of Wine 101 in Wake Forest, this funny, moving play by Julian Wiles is one of those rare small theater experiences you should not miss. Make plans to attend this Triangle premiere.
Advance tickets are available online at a discounted price through the Forest Moon website, where you will also find complete show information, including directions to the Renaissance Centre.
